The Church in Winnsboro (“in,” “at,” “of”: Revelation 2:8, 12, 18; Acts 13:1; I & II Thessalonians 1:1) is made up of all the Body of Christ in our city, meeting in different locations and expressing uniquely His Life with Christ as our Head and we as His “living stones, ” (I Peter 2:5) fitted together as His Body. As each individual believer has different gifts and expresses them uniquely, (Romans 12:6) so the “living stones” connected in various congregations of believers, express uniquely Christ’s multifaceted Body. (I Corinthians 12:4)
The pastors/elders/bishops (Acts 20:17, 28) of the various congregations are the elders of the city (Titus 1:5; Acts 14:23) and meet together regularly for prayer, fellowship, mutual encouragement, to support one another and to seek the mind of the Lord together concerning the needs of the church of the city. Those who are apostles, as “fellow elders, (I Peter 5:1)” also gather with the elders of the city, as do the evangelists, prophets and teachers, all of whom are equippers of the saints for the work of ministry (Ephesians 4:11-16) and endeavor to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace (Ephesians 4:3).
The Church in Winnsboro gathers from “house to house”(Acts 2:46) as well on “Solomon’s Porch. ” (Acts 5:12) Those “living stones” in the Body of Christ who meet in homes, gather on a regular basis (Acts 2:6; 20:7) “continuing steadfastly” in “the apostles doctrine,” “fellowship,” “breaking of bread,” “in prayers,” “praising God” and “having favor with all the people.”(Acts 2:42, 46-47) And the church of the city comes together as “on Solomon’s Porch,” for spontaneous and special occasions of “prayers,” “praising God”(Acts 2:46-47) and “rehearsing all that God has done” (Acts 14:27) on the mission field by the apostolic, itinerant, co-laborers who are sent out by the whole Body of Christ of the city. (Acts 13:1-4)
Our assemblies of household gatherings (Ephesians 2:19) follow the teaching and example of (I Corinthians 14:26) “When ye come together, every one of you hath a psalm, hath a doctrine, hath a tongue, hath a revelation, hath an interpretation. Let all things be done unto edifying.” (Ephesians 5:19) “Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual song, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord.” (Colossians 3:16) “Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in you hearts to the Lord. And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.” The household gatherings (Ephesians 2:19) follow instructions of “let all things be done decently and in order according to (I Corinthians 11 and 14).
